Houston summers are famous for the misery they inflict on residents. What's more, air conditioners and HVAC systems almost seem to enjoy breaking down in the middle of the night, when comfort is the most crucial, and when it's the hardest to get them fixed. We are three generations of air conditioning and heating technicians. We know all the ins and outs of mechanical systems, from direct expansion air conditioners to furnaces and fans. We know ducting, thermostats and coils. We're fluent in refrigeration, filtration and thermodynamics. The most beat-up HVAC system you can imagine is just another good project for us.

Doug Smith
President
I'm a native Houstonian who was raised in the culture of family business. I have over 30 years of experience in the HVAC field, including a decade of helping build a large HVAC company. Though I have numerous recognized achievements through various trade organizations, I feel the most gratified knowing that I have helped thousands of customers make the right decisions for their HVAC needs. I am proud of our "A+" rating with the BBB and our NATE certified technicians. In my spare time, I am a licensed HAM radio operator and enjoy hunting, fishing, and traveling. My wife and I will be married 24 years this fall, and I am blessed to have four great children.
Joanna Belz-Smith
Vice President
I’m a native of Cypress and hold a B.S.I.S., summa cum laude, from UHD and an A.A.S., highest honors, from HCCS, and I am now working on my MBA. Some of my hobbies include: running, strength training, gardening, reading, and writing poetry. Married 24 years, Doug and I enjoy traveling and competitively playing rummy and chess. My greatest assets are my two children who share my passion for education and the outdoors, as well as raising and spoiling our two shih-tzus, Snickers and Chip, and our tabby cat, Reagan.

Derek Smith
Customer Care Representative
I’ve been with American Comfort Experts since 2012 and am the ACE team member that you will reach late in the evenings and on the weekends. I’m also available to make you smile during most regular hours during the weekdays.
I’m a single, native Houstonian with an AA in Graphic Design through the Art Institute of Houston. My hobbies include writing and reading science fiction and fantasy, as well as competitive gaming. My dream is to one day write a novel that gets made into a movie. I also enjoy riding roller coasters and visiting theme parks. RIP Astroworld. The character trait I most admire is honesty.
Dustin Smith
Warehouse Manager/Fleet Administrator
I am in charge of all equipment, parts, uniforms, and vehicles. I keep the warehouse and trucks fully stocked to ensure that our technicians have everything they need to take care of our customers. I also manage the maintenance of our fleet and ensure that our trucks are organized and clean.
I am a single, native Houstonian who graduated from George Bush High School and studied Audio Engineering at HCC. I enjoy playing the guitar, finding new music, jamming with friends, and playing disc golf. One of my greatest achievements is teaching myself to play the guitar/writing music. The most fun I’ve had in a single day is camping on the beach with friends, which consisted of a trampoline, a golf cart, and many tents.
I describe myself as quiet, easy-going, thoughtful, and kind. I most value the traits of honesty and integrity. A nickname for me since I was a child is “Dusty.” The best advice that I’ve ever been given is to be myself.
Jesse Ramirez
Project Manager
I have extensive knowledge in the HVAC industry and work with homeowners across the Cypress-Houston metropolitan area to find which equipment fits their needs and budget in air conditioning, heating, and indoor air quality. As a Project Manager, I follow the installation through to the final inspection and ensure that our clients are 100% completely satisfied.
I am a native Houstonian who is married and has two wonderful children. My hobby as a child was playing football. These days, I enjoy playing with my kids and mountain biking. The most exciting thing that happened to me as a child/teenager was that I won an award for Rodeo art. My favorite memory as an adult is my wedding day.
The most fun I’ve had in a single day was deep sea fishing and had a surprise 30th birthday party. I describe myself as kind, soft spoken, and friendly. The character trait that I most admire is honesty. My motto is “Choose to be happy.” The best advice I’ve ever been given is to treat others the way you want to be treated.
Nick Rodriguez

I am an HVAC certified technician who enjoys performing service and maintenance of our customer’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment. In my job, I have the pleasure of meeting and corresponding with homeowners across the Cypress-Houston metropolitan area.
I am a native Houstonian who has been married to my beautiful wife for two years. The most exciting that has happened to me is a weekend in Vegas for my 30thbirthday (who my wife- then girlfriend- threw for me). I enjoy playing sports such as baseball/softball, tennis, volleyball, and basketball. I was a lettered pitcher in high school. My favorite memory as a child is hitting a 3 run homer in Little League.
The best advice that I’ve ever been given is to perform my work as if it were in my grandparents’ home. My motto is to “treat people the way you would want to be treated.” I describe myself as cheerful, honest, confident, and loyal. A hidden talent that I have is that I am a pretty funny guy.
Josh Bockel

I am an HVAC certified technician who prides myself on complete customer satisfaction in the service and maintenance of our cooling and heating clients. In my job, I also have the pleasure of meeting and corresponding with homeowners across the Cypress-Houston metropolitan area.
I am a native Houstonian whose hobbies include working out, fishing, and watching sports. Some exciting things that I did as a child/teenager were playing in a rock band, playing football, and skateboarding. One act of human kindness that I performed was helping my church with a benefit for a family in need. My favorite memory is buying my first house.
The most fun I’ve had in a single day is fishing sun up to sun down. I describe myself as in shape, fun to be around, productive, tough, awesome, and always striving to be better.

I am an HVAC certified technician who takes delight in exceeding our customer’s HVAC needs. Whether it’s cooling, heating, or indoor air quality, I am happy to help. I also enjoy meeting and corresponding with our customers spread across the Cypress-Houston metropolitan area.
Originally from San Diego, California, I moved here in July of 2017. I am married and have three awesome children and one beautiful grandchild. My hobbies as a teenager were surfing and skateboarding. I am an amateur photographer and enjoy shooting weddings. Furthermore, I am a Padi Master Scuba diver training instructor who taught for ten years. These days, I still relish in scuba diving, but only in warm water destinations.
The most fun I’ve had in a single day was my wedding day. I describe myself as a family man first and foremost. The character trait I admire most is honesty. People have told me that I am a great teacher. I describe myself as hard working, dependable, and patient.

I am a seasoned HVAC Installer with an extensive background in retrofitting air conditioning and heating equipment. I have the privilege of meeting new clients across the Cypress-Houston metropolitan area each day and exceeding their expectations. I am half of the Dynamic Duo on the Install crew. My partner, Ramón, and I have been working together for numerous years and are highly experienced, efficient, thorough, tidy, and respectful of our clients’ homes.
Born in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, I am married and have three amazing children. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Physics. My favorite memories are of the University. My favorite hobbies as a young adult were baseball and archery. I also have previous experience teaching archery. A hidden talent that I have is that I am an exceptional dancer. I consider myself a happy, easy-going person who values family and excellent workmanship.
Ramón Valdivia
Installer
I am a seasoned HVAC Installer with an extensive background in retrofitting air conditioning and heating equipment. I have the privilege of meeting new clients each day across the Cypress-Houston metropolitan area. I am the 2nd half of the Dynamic Duo on the Install crew. My partner, Felix, and I have been working together for numerous years, and are highly experienced, efficient, thorough, tidy, and respectful of our clients’ homes.
A Native of Cuba, I am married and have three wonderful children. My favorite memories are of my children being born. The most fun I’ve had in a single day was canoeing in a rapid river in Costa Rica. I describe myself as outgoing, friendly, helpful, and a hard worker. The character trait that I admire the most is being open-minded. The best advice I’ve ever been given is to believe in myself no matter what.
